Un bit (de símbol més habitual b), (de l'anglès, binary digit, "digit binari"), és la unitat d'informació mínima utilitzada en Informàtica i en Teoria de la Informació. Un bit pot tenir només dos estats mutuament exclusius, habitualment representats amb 0 i 1, o vertader o fals.

Un byte és una col·lecció de bits (generalment vuit). Altres múltiples del bit són el megabyte, el gigabyte i el kilobyte.
